In the months leading up to my one year anniversary of being out of Pittsburgh today I am starting a new feature for this blog called "Towns i've been in" I will make comments (satirical in nature) on what I observed in every new place I visited in 2010.
And yes I am that bored..
Today's City : Ogallala, Nebraska, (Visited : May 2010)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ogallala,_Nebraska
(Yes this is actually the city)
Population : 4,930
Oh Ogallala, I remember ye so fondly from that 13 hours I spent there, leading up to my fateful anti-freeze dump in the high altitudes of Wyoming.
This fine city is located in Keith County, (probably the mayor or sheriff or something) and is actually a refreshing change after the 900 mile stretch of cornfields from Illinois to Eastern Nebraska, the terrain grew ever so mountainous.
I remember the hustle and bustle of the one car on the road and the county sheriff who shined his light on me as I stood outside in the dark, maybe it was the 18 degree temp in the middle of May freezing my brain cells but this place was probably the most oddball city of the entire trip across the country.. well second to "Albang".
But as pointless as this feature of my blog is I say to you Ogallala that when your town's businesses shut down @ 7pm .. something's not right, take an example of your sister cities Brule, Paxton and Lemoyne and sell me KFC until 8pm, It's ok to be out after dark.
If you like empty streets, and nightlife that ends at 7 then Ogallala is the place for you !
Yea, this sucks but I'm bored :D, Next up : Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania :O
